What a configurator that actually sells costs
Two items. A monthly fee you know up front, and a one-off implementation nobody can price until we have seen your product. Below is exactly what sits in each.
Monthly fee
from €200per month
The configurator runs, updates itself and has someone behind it keeping it alive. The invoice is the same every month, however many configurations come through it.
What it covers
- Running the configurator on your domain or ours, hosting and certificates included.
- Engine updates: new capabilities, fixes and performance work arrive automatically.
- treede CRM — configurations, contacts, pipeline, quote versions and customer activity in one place.
- You change the price list and the product rules yourself, and the change is live immediately.
- Technical support for your people, not only for the end customer.
One-off implementation
Priced individually, and that is a decision rather than an evasion. The gap between one model line with five options and a catalogue with four hundred combinations is an order of magnitude, and a flat fee would short-change one of those two customers.
- Catalogue size
- How many model lines, variants and materials the configurator has to cover, and how far apart they are.
- Pricing rules
- Whether a price list and formulas exist in a usable form, or have to be reconstructed from how your salespeople actually quote.
- 3D source material
- Whether there is something to build on — CAD, drawings, technical sheets — or the geometry starts from nothing.
- Integrations
- Where the lead goes next: treede CRM, your own CRM or ERP, a webshop, your accounting system.
You get a first estimate after one call and a look at your product data. Not after weeks of an audit we would bill you for.
How soon it runs
Two paths, depending on whether we can already build your type of product.
- Existing engine
- Roughly one week from complete inputs being delivered and approved. This applies to catalogue types that already run.
- An entirely new product
- Roughly one month from the technical brief being agreed. We start with one model line and widen it once that one works.
What the price does not include
Better said now than discovered on an invoice.
- Landing pages and marketing campaigns. We can deliver them, but they are priced separately and by scope.
- Producing 3D source material where none exists and none can be derived from drawings.
- Building an entirely new engine for a product type the catalogue does not cover yet.
- Integrations outside the published list that need development on your system’s side.
The questions that come with the price
- Why is implementation not a fixed price?
- Because it would either overcharge a small catalogue or undercharge a large one. The work is set by the number of variants, the state of your pricing data and whether 3D source material exists. We can judge those three within a few days, and then you get a firm number rather than a range.
- Do we pay per lead or per user?
- No. The monthly fee does not move with how many configurations arrive or how many people work in treede CRM. A system that penalises you for working makes sense to neither side.
- Who changes prices once the configurator is running?
- You do. The price list and the product rules are your data and you change them without us. The change is live immediately, so a seasonal adjustment is not a request to a supplier.
- Do we have to show the price to the end customer?
- Not necessarily. The price can be calculated live and revealed only after a contact is entered, or replaced with a quote request. Some companies show prices and some will not. Both work.
- What if our product type is not in the catalogue?
- Tell us which type it is. The catalogue grows with what companies actually ask for, and the order is set by how often a type is requested, whether a running engine can carry it, and whether product data exists. If your type is close to something already running, the path is short.
